As the sixth largest consumer of retail fuels, Mexico presents an attractive opportunity for international trade. Demand is already well in excess of the country’s domestic production capability, and consumption is expected to grow by 3 percent annually. What does that mean for American producers? Currently, 48 percent of Mexico’s fuel comes from outside the country, and some analysts project that number will increase to 60 percent by 2020.
