Chad Smith is the Senior Vice President of Terminal Operations for One Cypress Energy, a San Antonio-based midstream firm that provides consulting and support services in South Texas and northeast Mexico. He is the author of Market Update, a monthly column about Mexico’s ongoing energy reforms, and is a sought- after speaker on the cross-border fuels trade.
Under Chad’s leadership, One Cypress Energy has been at the forefront of the fuel exports market, overseeing the transport of millions of barrels of ULSD, gasoline, biodiesel, LPG, base oils, and other products by truck and rail. Chad was instrumental in expanding the firm’s Brownsville bulk liquids storage terminal, increasing the facility’s capacity from 100,000 barrels to 500,000 barrels.
Additionally, Chad provides export consulting in the areas of fuel procurement, transport, and permitting. Leveraging his strong relationships with domestic suppliers and deep knowledge about cross-border trade, Chad provides cost effective sourcing and logistics support for distributors across Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon.
Prior to his work at One Cypress Energy, Chad served in various capacities at AT&T, KPMG, Lehman Brothers, and Tesoro Corporation (now Andeavor). He is an avid runner and has completed six marathons and three Ironman triathlons. Chad and his wife, Tinsley, are the proud parents of two young children.
